Gay life at Tulane...

not only is new orleans a very liberal city, but i would say tulane is a pretty liberal campus as well. i do not think you will have a problem at all on campus. most students are actually not even from the south (not that south and conservative necessarily go hand in hand).

but to assure you - i recently graduated from tulane and had quite a few gay/lesbian friends. it was never an issue, and in fact i think my gay/lesbian friends really enjoyed tulane and new orleans because it was so easy for them to meet other people. there are also a few gay bars/clubs in the french quarter, if you’re interested. i also knew out-of-the-closet lesbians who were even in sororities at tulane (and if having lesbians in a traditional sorority doesn’t show you the open-mindedness about homosexuality at tulane, i don’t know what will)! honestly, you will be more than fine.

and the more i think about it, even more than more than fine. my gay/lesbian friends had waaaay better luck with dating and relationships than us heterosexuals…i.e. they were able to find real, serious relationships, while us not as much.
