Gene Wilder has passed away at age 83

Madeline Kahn’s mock outrage, in the form of a deep sigh, as soon as Igor gets his line out is again, sorry to keep using this word, perfection. He then attacks she her shawl which is some sort of animal wrapped around neck, she growls, he is growling, she hits him with her purse. Wilder laughs nervously, Garr is shocked.

I am glad to now see articles acknowledging that he was by alll accounts happily married for the last 25 years. As much as I adored the Gilda-and-Gene romance, the comments all over social media that “now he’s back with Gilda” were a little treacly, not to mention the rudeness of how his widow was a footnote in many obituaries.

@garland, I read an interview with Gene Wilder where he said that after marrying Karen, he was the happiest he’d ever been, and that she was “the love of his life.” So yeah, I agree with you about the “footnote” quality of the references to Karen.

@garland:
I have to agree with you, plus given what Gene himself has written about their relationship, how difficult it was, makes you wonder how happy he would have been over the long run (and that is not knocking Gilda’s memory at all, I am going simply by what Gene himself wrote about the relationship), and it is kind of making it seem like his last wife paled in comparison or some such.
