@actorparent1 Just found your great description of the Hartt acting program above–very helpful! I had forgotten about the junior year semester in London! I PM’d you earlier, as my D is really leaning toward this program now–although she does have a few waitlists for MT, so her decision isn’t final yet. Any additional info you can provide about life at Hartt more generally would be appreciated. We toured the campus last spring, but since we now can’t do an accepted student visit, it’s harder to know about other aspects of campus life, like dorms, food, social life, etc. Any insights would be helpful!
Sure, glad to help! The freshman dorms are very typical: double rooms on a hallway of 5 rooms sharing a bathroom. Sophomore year they have apartment-style suites. Most of the Hartt ATs and MTs move off-campus either sophomore year or junior year. The cafeteria food is decent. Social life: there are lots of parties, the kids have movie nights, they go see shows at Hartford Stage, they go to Blue Back Square (shopping district with restaurants and shops and movie theaters), and there are seasonal things in West Hartford like corn mazes and Halloween and Christmas events. The college also has comedy shows and things like that.
