<p>I was scratching my head over this at first and did some digging to connect the dots. So it turns out Mellody Hobson went to St. Ignatius (near south side) in Chicago. She works for Ariel Investments, which was founded by Hyde Parker John Rogers, UChicago Lab School '76. </p>
<p>Mellody Hobson is also good friends with Desiree Rogers and Valerie Jarrett, who are both UChicago Lab School grads. And of course, Valerie Jarrett’s boss, Pres. Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, are Hyde Parkers, as well. </p>
<p>So while George Lucas may be a west coast away from the South Side of Chicago, his new wife clearly has many connections to Hyde Park. As a former Labbie myself, I can attest to the importance of the Point to anyone from the South Side.</p>
<p>Ultimately, the only worthwhile conclusion to be drawn from all this is that my invitation must have been sent to the wrong address.</p>
