The whole Common Data set system is an honor system isn’t it? Since colleges are self reporting, every college out there could be fudging numbers and we’d never know. Do you think there will come a time for a when a regulating agency is necessary?

GWU is run more like a business than a school. And while I love GW with all my heart, it’s a little ridiculous. They don’t spend much time caring about their students, and spend much more time siphoning money out of us.

Local Washington news has announced that GW has lost its ranking and will now be listed as “unranked” by US News.

While I agree GWU should be punished, it’s unfair that schools like Emory got away with their trickery while GWU is thrown in the trash.

I agree. Emery is the the highest ranked school to have been caught in this “False reporting” spree, but seems to have had no ill effects from it by USN&WR. I can only suppose there are “Degrees” of false reporting…but who determines that?

Although I certainly don’t think that schools like Emory and GW are worth the money, especially for undergrad studies, I have to admit that they are a good school. They have some very strong programs and great contacts with some federal agencies. After all, they are located in Wash DC. Their grad programs, however, are what they are known for. Most of the grad programs are very good.

They were not busted. It was self discovery, self reported, and it was based on a rational premise. Many high schools no longer report class rank so GWU made their best guess that students with top standardized scores and grades were likely in the top 10% of their class because USNews needed them to report class rank.

WOW!!! Good Luck to all current applicants!

Does this help current applicants or hurt them? Do they have a better chance of getting in now?

Just curious.
