how would gu know if you were applying ed somewhere else?

If you are attracted to Georgetown, Holy Cross near Boston is very similar but easier to get into. The reason for the similarity is that the school was founded by the Georgetown Jesuits in 1843 and in fact during the first couple years HC graduates received Georgetown degrees because Massachusetts was slow to grant a charter because of strong anti-Catholicism at that time in history. One difference is Holy Cross is strictly undergraduate so there are no grad students teaching. Small class sizes and lots of access to the professors. (Many large universites use grad students for teaching and access to full professors are extremely limited.) Also at Holy Cross SAT scores are optional. Holy Cross is #33 on the US New and World Report Rankings for national liberal arts colleges.
