***GEORGETOWN CLASS OF 2021 APPLICANT THREAD***

@snicks1234 Thank you.

@cwinnie It is. It is perfectly fine to share information and support and console each other, but obcessing isn’t helpful or healthy and we want to work towards being strong adults who can handle things, good and bad, with poise. We are all anxious and excited, but let’s focus on balance and thinking positive thoughts being patient. Just my opinion. Hope all the best for each poster.

@snicks1234 And people asking when they’ll receive their letters. None of us here are mailmen.

Well, I’m coming from the USC Class of 2021 thread, and it seems there they are all the more supportive about people asking when they will receive their letters. Some did actually have helpful information about when letters are to be expected, so I was hoping for similar help on this thread.

Enter Georgetown’s ZIP = 20057

I don’t think USPS delivers on Sundays, so 2-day = Monday, 3-day = Tuesday.

someone expressing their feelings on college confidential doesn’t represent them as a person… again, the original poster came off as a bit snarky by telling everyone to calm down so if anything we should all learn to respect each other so everyone can get through these stressful times!!

Yeah, I got an email from an actual person with a specific question. I replied and he replied back. This made me a little hopeful even thought there was a disclaimer at the bottom of the email saying that this did not mean I was an admitted student. I am holding onto the idea that financial aid would not review every applicants information. Maybe just those that maybe, might, possibly get admitted. Georgetown is a reach for me so I try to find hope in the smallest of places.

@victorialugo ^ sorry

Exactly everyone. I get it. It is excruciatingly long, the time from apllication to decision. Supporting each other is paramount. My point was that some on these threads sound like they are on the verge of tears and anguish and that if they don’t get accepted they will go into depression and that isn’t healthy. We need to step back and look at the reality. Getting accepted at any reach is by the numbers unlikely for anyone. A few lucky few are chosen and many who are more than qualified are denied. We can’t live and die with every decision, all we can do is find balance and wait. From what I’ve read all on here will achieve somewhere and all will find the right fit. Including me. Good luck to all, fear not and let the chips fall.

The entire financial aid thing is really stressing me out. I’m missing critical financial aid documents for many of my schools and none of them have contacted me. Is it possible that they didn’t contact some people because they already knew that the person didn’t qualify for financial aid from the materials they did send in? Because schools that I’ve gotten into have given me basically nothing and I’m hoping that I didn’t receive a notification because they wouldn’t consider giving me aid either way.

^^^ this whole process sucks, with so many qualified people not getting into schools. Don’t take it personally, and above all do not use where you get accepted to measure all your hard work through high school and your future potential. These colleges know zero about you besides some stuff on paper. You’re so much more than that. Wherever you end up, “name-brand” or not, just go out and make the most of it.

I am coping by thinking of this as a lottery. I applied for several large scholarships and made semi finalist for 4 and am only in the running still for one of the awards. I feel the same way about the schools. I have been wait listed for on school that was a safety school and accepted early to a reach school. I waited to apply regular decision to Georgetown to try and strengthen my test scores. I feel that was now a mistake. There seems to be no real formula it is all about if the admissions person looking at your application thinks you are worthy. I know I am I just hope they don’t make a mistake by not admitting me. lol

what time is decision available tomorrow???

I’ve had the same experience so far. I was wait listed by one of my safety schools, but accepted to two reach schools. This just goes to show that your hard work and determination are not defined by the schools that accept you, which should give hope. For me, this proved the idea that different schools look for different things and that if you don’t get in, it simply wasn’t a great fit for you, regardless of qualifications.

You’ll get the decision in the mail rather than being able to check online. @ccwwbb

@montyskye international students are supposed to get an email tomorrow according to gtown twitter

About what time will international students receive the decision?

@AnArcticMonkey was wondering the same thing

@ccwwbb guess we just have to wait then ;_;

@hopelessopus12 Not all schools notify of missing documents, but it’s not an indication either way. Two schools that accepted me did notify me of missing documents and other schools that rejected me also did not notify me or did notify me, but earlier in the process.
