Georgetown Transfers 2020

@PixelyPirate @asokamani Congrats to you both! Did they say in the letter how many spaces there are?

Accepted to Georgetown College

Not disclosing my major

I’m Asian male

1360 SAT

From a pretty low ranked 4 year university

4.0 College GPA (I didn’t take a rigorous course load—no math or science courses—which I thought would look bad but guess not)

I think my Teacher Rec was the factor that got me in…a teacher’s words can make a substantial difference in how your application is viewed, and more importantly, how you as a person are viewed.

I had sort of a hook

Relatively good essays

There were 120 spaces and ~2200 applied.

Admitted this morning for government!! its so weird getting a decision at 9 am in the morning lol

Super happy for all of you! ? But if 930 PST rolls around and I don’t have an email think I’ll let my Georgetown hopes RIP.

If this morning had all government decisions, that’s it for me. ?

Lol I wouldn’t worry too much. Do they post the decision letter to the portal or just by email?

Have there been any MSB acceptances?

@20transfer20 From previous threads, it seems like MSBers receive their decisions after the other schools. I’m also in the same boat as you; nobody on this thread so far has been accepted to MSB

Congratulations everyone and thanks for keeping us all updated! I am still waiting for my decision and hoping for the best.

Do you think they will continue releasing decisions today or that is it?

Hey guys by the way they admission rate went down tremendously (in my opinion) this year. Whereas the rate was 9% last year (averaging 225 spots), the rate was a measly 5.45% this year (120 spots available for 2200 applicants). So don’t beat yourself up to much. Also it’s an email notification and then you go on the portal and click update. Acceptances starts with “it gives great pleasure…”

@goldencountry Is that only for Georgetown College or for the entire university in general? Someone said that it was 220 last week?

Have any econ majors been accepted so far?

While I appreciate the update @goldencountry just want to point out that the admitted rate isn’t 5.45%. Colleges admit more than the number of spaces available. 120 spots/spaces does not equal 120 acceptances. So the rest of you still waiting have hope. Its not quite as bleak as 5%. Good luck!

So does that mean they admit 240 if they have a yield rate of 50%?

I wouldn’t speculate too much. The number will certainly be higher than 120, because spots does not mean number of acceptances. I’m sure it will be upwards of 200

@Transferiscomingsoon Yes, they said 120 spots and 2200 applicants! Best of luck!!

@applicant324 i’m also applying for econ, haven’t heard anything. it seems like they’re releasing decisions by school/major? i have no idea, but this whole decision process has been very confusing.

Has anyone who applied NHS heard anything?
