And that’s not controlled for net cost.

If you’re referring to me, I don’t have a kid applying to college so I have no skin in this game. I was merely stating an opinion that you’re free to disagree with.

Second, I never said no one would pick GT over MIT so please don’t put words in my mouth.

My apologies. My goal was not to put words in your mouth or anything. My post was based on a big misinterpretation of what you and others were saying and seemed acusatory when I really did not mean it to. I removed it.

Ohhh. I thought a parent rejected at ga tech was saying.
,

That’s kind of what I thought too, lol.

Let’s move on from any GT vs MIT talk; feel free to start another thread if you’d like to continue. Further posts will be deleted. This is taking away from a thread focused on GT EA applicants. Thanks for your understanding.

Does anyone know what’s better or more helpful to attend: admitted students day or gold carpet day? Thanks

I would recommend Gold Carpet Day if you have never been to GT before. It’s an all-day event with many breakout sessions in addition to the tours.
Here is the flyer from the one we attended two years ago so you can get an idea.

If anyone has this year’s schedule please share.

2024 Spring Gold Carpet Day

Thank you! I made a slight change in the hyperlink so the document is viewable.

Kids told me all slots were taken on both dates
 we missed it :smiling_face_with_tear:

Sorry to hear that! Two years ago, we signed up for Gold Carpet Day quickly after my son received his acceptance on EA2. We tried to do the same with the other schools that he was admitted to (going to the full-day admitted student events instead of the regular admitted student tour), but sometimes by the time we researched possible itineraries, flights, and hotels, the slots were gone. So he ended up doing a mix of full-day events, admitted student tours, and self-guided tours.

We missed registration for Gold Carpet Day, is an admit tour good enough? This is DS top choice and we want to get a full experience.

At any school - you need to get comfort. You needn’t go to an admitted student day. Many can’t and don’t.

Yes get there. Take a tour - organized or self. Stop kids and adults on campus and talk to them. Set an academic meeting if you want. Eat in the dining hall. Check the surrounds.

Admitted student days are often marketing and rah rah. They’re great. Intended to get you to choose them.

Get to school preferably when in session. You’ll get a sense.

It needn’t be an organized day. It just needs to give you a sense.

Anyone know when provost scholarship offers are made? It’s our one last hope.

People said two weeks after offers - so that would be this Friday I guess. We too are hoping for a Provost

I was wondering the same. The website says within two weeks of acceptance but if you are not selected you will not get an email so was wondering if anyone has heard
best of luck to all! :crossed_fingers:

Are provost scholarships for instate only?

It is not end of the world.
Just come visit. Ask admission office for a tour. Reach to school/major department and ask for tour for admitted student with a current student.
DD was admitted 2 days befores deadline from waitlist during pandemic. She committed without ever visiting campus. However, I did not consider that risky since I had 2 degrees from GT and knew that it would be great fit. I was correct.
