getting an F in phys ed

I actually worked for a company (major manufacturer) where your advancement was seriously in jeopardy if you were NOT fit! Our CEO was a prominent runner (coached me for awhile) and really valued the character that fitness and athleticism demonstrated.

It’s good that you could get the F off her transcript. Hopefully she will learn from this experience. I’m surprised that, if she was skipping gym, no one brought it to your attention before she flunked the class. In our district, everyone has to pass 2 years of PE, and kids do flunk, mostly for not dressing out or for skipping class. I’ve heard of seniors in jeopardy of not graduating because they still haven’t passed 10th grade gym. Have you talked to her about the importance of lifelong physical fitness? In our district, they have the “new PE” which is basically gym for non-jocks.

I agree with paying3tuitions on having her tested for a LD. My D was making A’s in all classes with little effort, was in a G&T program in middle school, but struggling to get C’s in math (she has a high IQ too). Based on the results of the testing, she’s going to take 3 languages but no more math. Actually, by non-CC standards, your daughter’s SAT’s aren’t bad at all. The national average is something like 1500. If she’s not motivated, maybe a “gap year” would be a good idea. What does she want to do?
