Getting into classes is never really too much of a problem. Some are rather popular and have limited enrollment caps. However, I’ve found if you just keep showing up for class the professor will eventually just break down and let you in. So, I’ve never really had the problem of getting into a class…more of the problem of choosing only 4 courses from a list of maybe 20 really interesting topics that I’d like to take. There just isn’t enough time.

As for internships and opportunities for practical experiences, I think Haverford benefits immensely from it’s proximity to Philadelphia (as well DC and NYC). You have no idea how convenient it is to be able to get to NYC, interview, and get back in only 6 or 7 hours. The Career Services office helps you out should need it, but usually the Haverford name alone will get you a spot in a law firm, a research lab, or whatever interesting endeavor you’d like to participate in. There are also a ton of fellowship and scholarship opportunities for on campus or off campus work…so even if you can’t find funding for a community service project or conducting research on nanoparticles from an organization you work with, Haverford can still fund whatever you do. I’d imagine the location would probably benefit you much more than Carleton’s. Although, I’d imagine their on campus opportunities are pretty comparable.
