But, when it comes down to it, Eau Claire does have decent rankings and some street cred. It is considered one of the better schools in the midwest. Also, Milwaukee is the only other research university besides Madison in Wisconsin, that has to mean something. So, perhaps we are blowing this a bit out of proportion…

Just out of curiosity, have you ever heard of the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire before? It does pretty well in the rankings.

<p>My point is that the OP really does come from “Nowhere College,” as Professor X put it. I have actually heard of UWEC before, but only in the context of a not-particularly-rigorous public LAC. Which doesn’t mean that you can’t get an excellent education there, but it does mean that being well-ranked as a master’s university means very little in this case.</p>
