Getting the Wrong RX

They gave me a package with my information/prescription on the outside paperwork, but instead of my Imitrex inside, it was Seroquel with another name on the bottle. It wasn’t going to help my migraine any, so I took it back. The pharmacist looked somewhere between stunned and panicked, and refunded my money and gave me the right prescription. I did not report it to the manager.

Several years ago I was having several Rx’s filled for my son and I at the same time. The pharmacy put the wrong pills in the wrong bottles. It was only because I had taken these meds before and knew what they were supposed to look like that I recognized the problem. If I had given my son the incorrect pills (meant for me) in the dosage written on the Rx bottle for him, it could have been catastrophic due to the dose and mix of meds he takes. I noticed before I left the pharmacy due to the size of the bottles (ie one is a much bigger pill so it tipped me off there was an issue). I quietly asked to see the pharmacist and explained the problem, telling them I didn’t want to cause trouble, but he needed to know and speak with the person who filled the Rx’s. I also (obviously) asked to have the Rx’s relabeled properly. This was many years ago before the insert gave you a description of what the pill should physically look like. Needless to say, I pay attention to that now.

I now go to our neighborhood Wegman’s where they know my entire family of five by name, are very helpful, and I have no complaints. I may pay a bit more but the service is outstanding.
