GF Road trip PA to Michigan

Frankly, “Rock and Roll hall of fame” was not as impressive as anticipated. However, maybe it is a good idea to at lest stop there once in your life. Art museum was not impressive either. And I absolutely hate the Cedar Point, which would be a very different opinion than most others. However, Art museum in Toledo is very very impressive, including very unique Glass pavilion. Actually I love it much more than famous MOMA in Manhattan (we were not impressed by this one at all, actually felt like we wasted our time there). We also absolutely love the Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village, especially Ford Museum and its very unigue food in cafeteria. I can go to Toledo Art museum or Ford museum every weekend, I will never be bored there.
I do not know anything else in regard to your question.

Would love to hear what you finally decided to do!

So jealous! Have a great time!

We’re in Michigan! Thumper hit some traffic so we didn’t get to Pittsburgh until after 6:00. We had a wonderful dinner in Highland Park and then spent the night at a fancy hotel in Pittsburgh thanks to a Priceline deal. We slept in the next morning and had a great breakfast at Pamela’s. We had rain most of the way and didn’t feel compelled to stop except for a quick run into a thrift store. Since we’ve been here we’ve done nothing but talk and shop a bit, and eat. Fun!

We had a great drive. And the night in Pittsburgh was very relaxing. We did stop in Wyandot but didn’t exactly find the trendy little area! However…we proceeded on to our destination in Michigan with o problems.

Does anyone know what happened in Monroe? There were signs for outlets but it really looked like an outlet ghost town!

I grew up in Monroe and don’t live too far away now. The outlet mall there is a sad situation! When my oldest who is now 24 was little I loved shopping there - Carter’s for so many of her clothes, Bass Shoe Outlet, Nike outlet , Pepperridge Farm, etc! I don’t k ow why it didn’t survive but it just plummeted. We still go to the Gap Outlet there and they do a fabulous business but I worry for how much longer. It’s pathetic! There is no close outlet shopping in the Detroit /Toledo area so you would have thought it would have survived. The rest of Monroe is still kicking- I just think everyone leaves town to shop !

So was OUR Thumper taking his trip with KathieP??? I’m so confused!!

I live really close to the Monroe area where the outlet failed miserably. There are only about 3 stores still there. That outlet mall is truly an outlet ghost town. There is still a GAP outlet store there but that’s the only one worth going into at all. The Leggs/Hanes one just closed in the last few months and that was the main reason I’d ever go there. Downtown Monroe does have some cute stuff. You are staying much closer to the Birch Run Outlets which is a great outlet mall! You didn’t mention what you’ll be doing while in Flint, but Birch Run and Frankenmuth are both very cool!

If you want to do a quick drive by of the trendy area of Wyandotte on the drive home- You’ll want to take exit 37, Northline/Allen Rd and go east until it ends at Biddle. Turn right and after you pass the hospital, you’ll be entering the cute downtown area.

Re-read and see that you are flying home… oh well!

Edited to add: looks like abasket and I are as close to neighbors as you get on a board like this…lol.

OUR Thumper is a she, not a he! Yikes, what if Mr. KathieP was reading these boards ! Wouldn’t want him to get the wrong idea!

Oops the “his” was a mistype !!!

Yes…I went on the trip. And it was great. Just FYI…we did NOT go to Flint. We were in another town just north of Detroit.

Thanks for the info about Monroe Outlets…it was really eerie!

I’m now on the second leg of the trip by myself…visiting my family in Cleveland.

Thank you to the person who recommended Pamela’s in Pittsburgh. It was good, and fun.

We had dinner at Point Bruge Cafe (I think that’s the name) in Highland Park…very good.
