Gift for a newborn

We have 3 new grandmas to be at work. They all were talking this week about how the parents to be seem to be frowning upon any clothes as a gift because they people tend to end up with too much - and too much in a different taste than how they want to dress their baby ( I can totally understand this!!). I often like to purchase something that is for later in the first year of life.

I love quilts. When on a trip in New Hampshire, found a gorgeous baby quilt. he woman made the quilt in primary and pastel colors. I bought this for 3 friends (over a couple of years). When I visited my close friend, she had framed the quilt on her wall, used it for all her children. Many years later, I still go to quilt shows and buy the prettiest little quilts I see. The last time I was ith my older sister; she snatched up 3, as her friends having grandbabies. My friends are not quite there yet, but I should start stocking up.

Books are no-fail, and we also give shutterfly gift certificates.

I still think it’s good to give a handmade treasure as well as money towards college fund–it will be costly by the time the child comes of age!! I know my friend who is a new grandma was grateful and started to think of helping start a fund for her new grand baby.
