I’m impressed at all of the electronic gifts for your parents. None of the senior citizens in my life are anywhere near that computer literate. Heck, I don’t think I would be without my kids there to bail me out. Keep the ideas coming because I need them. Whatever happened to slippers, PJs, sweaters???

My 85 year old father is always cold. Last year I found a polar fleece robe that has bee a huge hit. My mother and father-in-law, 80 and 90, are getting a Kindle. Both have failing eyesight and the larger print will make books accessible again.

My father is also cold natured and my mother is not. I got my father an electric throw blanker and a pair of fleece slippers. He wraps himself up in his throw and my mother doesn’t have to sweat will the heat is turned way too high!

“But now I need a gift…LOL.” - Years ago Dear Abby recommended postage stamps for elderly relatives. That may still be an appreciated gift these days since they are expensive.

Another inexpensive but appreciated gift - really nice playing cards with HUGE numbers.

Last year we ordered my father a jigsaw from the NYT that was the front page on his birthdate.

Another thing from Harry and David that I am filing away for the future are the Centerville Chicken Pies, so I can send dinner to a sick friend or new mother who is not local. They are supposed to be delicious. H&D is running a free standard delivery special right now on orders of $50 or more.

We made a Voice Quilt for an important birthday after learning about it from a CC thread several years ago. It was easy to do and very appreciated. If I remember, we had more than 50 people participate. All they needed was access to a phone. The company has a website with step by step instructions and some of the options are inexpensive.

Thanks for the NY Times ideas. I just ordered the birthday book for a 90th birthday.

For those seniors who have poor vision, google Low Vision Watches. These are watches with a big face and clear hands/numbers.
