That is the wisest advice on resumes, to tailor it, I get a lot of generic resumes and I often sit there looking at it saying “does this person even know what we are, what we are looking for?”. It is much like the person who comes into the interview and seems to know nothing about the company or our area, it shows that they weren’t applying for the job knowing what we did, but likely spamming postings to see if any stick (among other things, I can tell if they did any research, if they don’t ask questions, that is a tell tale sign).
