<p>I’ll add another caution about starting the pill (despite its convenience) - I recently talked to a 17 y.o. who went on the pill and had really bad psychological side effects - intense depression, unable to stop crying etc. The side effects were evident pretty much immediately following the start of the pill (within a day or two) and went away as soon as she stopped taking it. She said her OBGYN told her that some people just react badly to certain pills. Over time, they were able to find a medication she could tolerate. If it were my D I’d want to have some time to see how (if at all) the pill effected her emotionally.</p>
