<p>That bag is very in now. I was just at Lord and Taylor, I got her a Michael Kor (blue and black snack skin), but I wasn’t too happy with it. She wanted one with a gold chain, and little bit dressier. This one is perfect. I am going to return the other one now. She said it’s nice for going out at night for her wallet and phone, hands free for dancing.</p>
<p>I think handbags are really personal–I wouldn’t buy one, unless I knew it was exactly what the recipient requested. I like the cashmere scarf idea–I think that would be geat along with some nice leather gloves. Also, if the girlfriend likes Tiffany’s jewelry, there are some great silver key chains at Tiffany’s. D2 got me this one last Christmas and I love it. My car has one of those clicker keys and I had a hard time finding a key chain for it. This worked well. I’ve got the heart-shaped one.</p>

Sorry, but my son does turn to me for gift ideas. When my g/f was in his city for a conference, he asked what he could get her for fancy dinners out. I suggested a chocolate store near him in Cambridge. He went there again when he had another invite. I have always stressed the need for a thankyou note or phone call when someone does something really special for him.
Son has his first g/f now, and I made several sugggestions to him. His g/f is not label conscious, but it was fun to try to make him think about the jewelry she wears, clothes, favorite colors, etc. I bought a picture frame for her, with a picture of them in it. Also, a mother of pearl business card holder (on sale from 90 to 25); he made her cards.
I want my son to be sensitive to his g/f and her likes and needs. He should know her favorite flowers and food.
I was so proud when son in HS, and he walked to mall, bought his female friend a book (with his $), wrapped it himself (in newspaper), and brought it to her party. Later, the parents invited him to a musical show.</p>
<p>My son got his GF a nice looking watch. You’ll find them in all price ranges, from fancy to sporty. From glamorous to ultra practical.</p>
