I set up a birthday fundraiser through FB last summer. I was told that they would send the agency the money as it reached $100 increments and that there were no fees for birthday fundraisers.
^^^what if the donation total stalled between $100 increments? Like at $345???
These birthday fundraisers on FB are a current pet peeve of mine. I feel like it’s presenting the idea of “gifting” a donation because of my birthday - to people on FB who most likely don’t give you a gift anyway! I much support the idea of a charity give in lieu of gifts from your close family and friends - but the FB thing feels over the top when you start seeing a few of them daily.
Plus I don’t want any of my financial data tied to facebook.
I think (though am not 100% sure) that all the money donated for a particular agency is put into one pot. So, if I ask for donations to the American Cancer society and raise $150 and someone else raises $75 for the American Cancer society, then $200 would be sent and the extra $25 would wait until someone else’s fundraiser pushes it over $100.
And, as always, one should follow their own comfort level with what to do with their financial data. What works for one won’t always work for another. I am not here to judge anyone if they don’t feel comfortable doing what I am comfortable doing.
