Glynn Honors/Reilly Weekend Invites

Well, unfortunately I don’t have a lot of info, @MagnoliaMom. I’m out of town but I’ll ask her more about it when I get home. She has attended some events but not all. I know she took a trip to Chicago in the fall, but not sure if that was for Glynn or one of her other classes. She spends more time with friends from her dorm. She is a science major and the majority of them are too. They all have pretty rigorous schedules (18 hours!) and take the academics seriously. This is not to say they don’t do their fair share of partying, because they do. But they work hard. With football season over, she may take more time to do the social events with Glynn.

Glynn has a lounge - I think in the student center - that I know she goes to between classes. Free coffee and bagels! She had at least 2 Glynn classes last semester: a humanities seminar and honors philosophy. She did say both of those were challenging but interesting.

My older D had the exact same stats and was not invited and has had a truly fabulous experience at ND. She is writing a thesis so that piece is not confined to kids in the Glynn program. She also has very solid relationships with a number of professors and the head of her department, and is doing research for one. I have no idea why younger D was invited to apply but I don’t think it’s just based on stats. Honestly, I don’t think Glynn is that big of a deal except for the guaranteed summer research grant, and I think kids outside of Glynn can do that as well.

Hope this helps. If I learn anything more, I’ll post.
