Going back to work after being a SAHM???

Wow, congratulations!!

Congratulations!

Yay! When do you start? Do you need us to give you any clothing advice now?!!

Awesome!!! Congrats!!!

@abasket - I start on 3/23, after my D’s spring break. I’m going in for some training first though. The office is very casual so I’m expecting slacks/khakis with a blouse/sweater to be appropriate. Plan on confirming that though when I go for training.

Congratulations! Let us know how it goes!

Congrats to you!!!

Very cool, good luck!

Yea! Hope you like it!

Congrats! All the best in your new job.

And, advice on how to keep your house and your life organized while working??

@veryhappy - I’m hoping that since it’s only 30 hours/week that I’ll be able to keep up with the house but I will need to switch up when I do things and H knows he’s going to be on the hook for making dinner 3 times/week. He does 0 times/week now but he’s capable with instructions. I’m an empty nester so I don’t have to worry about chauffeuring anyone around and the hours are such that the dog won’t be home alone for giant stretches of time.

I’m also getting a Roomba to help with vacuuming ; )

At one point I did manage working full time, a horrendous commute, and keeping up the house/life but it’s been a while.

Slow cooker is the way to go!

Congratulations on starting this new chapter!

Thought I would give an update after getting so much support and good advice!

I ended up working 2 days in the office before the SIP order hit but was able to do my training and work from home. We did loads of zoom calls and all our office software is cloud based or on Google drive so it was easy to work remotely. Frankly, it was a great way to ease into the job and learn all the software and policies/procedures.

The office was considered essential so my boss went from being totally closed, to doing telehealth, to seeing limited emergency patients, to being basically re-opened after Memorial Day.

I’ve been in the office for the past two weeks now and it’s been going super well! We have all kinds of Covid policies in place and it feels very safe. We’re still operating at about 50% patient load and I think it will stay that way until the state moves to Phase IV in re-opening. As such, I’m working closer to 25 hours/week rather than 30 which is really quite nice.

H is working from home until Labor Day and he’s now doing all of the cooking M-W when I have my late days. He’s been way more helpful around the house with chores in general. Super nice surprise! It’s an easier transition for the dog too since he isn’t alone at all.

Basically, I love the job, love our patients, love our doctors and am so happy that I made the transition back to work.

Thanks again to all!

@momofsenior1 thanks for the update!! That sounds so perfect. I’m glad it worked out for you. I’m glad your husband is stepping up to the plate, too.

I’ve been fortunate that a client who seemingly dropped me is using me a LOT again. He must have had employees quit, ha, but whatever! I can charge enough per hour that I don’t have to work that much to match what I would make if I found a “real” job. We’re using the money to pay off the huge loan we had to take out for our kids’ college tuition (thank God they’re done).

Congrats! So nice to hear update.

Sounds like a dream job and set up! I’m so jealous.

@momofsenior1, it’s so nice to hear something POSITIVE with all of the negative things that are going on.
So glad it’s worked out well for you.

It does sound like a dream job! So happy for you!
