Good areas to live in or near Terre Haute?

never had any idea so many midwesterners were members of cc! i’ve been to many sporting events in paris and have never left that town with a positive impression. just a “rough” crowd, in my opinion.

marshall lays claim to one of the nicest golf courses in the country–canyata. if you ever have a chance to play there, don’t pass it up (just be sure someone else is picking up the tab!) . just being on the course is quite an experience.

eiu does have a new fine arts building and i believe there is some serious effort put into booking more “major” performers. they do have a nice variety and the ticket prices are remarkably well-priced.

eiu athletics boast an NCAA women’s rugby team–and the first ever NCAA women’s rugby match was held at eiu about two weeks ago. eiu is quite dominant in women’s rugby–but not so much in many other sports. the athletic arenas are adequate and the athletic department is in the middle of a major fund-raising project for new facilities.

good luck!

gloworm-just realized my finger slipped. You are right, it is 5%.

I’ll be staying at a hotel in Marshall until our new place is available, so I will try to get a glimpse of Canyata!

On the outside chance that anyone still remembers me or this discussion…we moved to Charleston and like it just fine. Actually I love it, my teenage daughter likes it and is very happy in school, and my wife thinks it’s okay but spends every day she can in Champaign instead. :-)

The job in Paris, on the other hand, sucked royal donkey snot. I just quit and started a new job in Springfield that promises to be much, much nicer. We’re going to continue to live in Charleston, though; I’m renting a small place in Springfield during the week and making the 90-mile trek back to Charleston on weekends and occasional weekdays.

Cheers, y’all!
