If I am understanding this correctly, the State of Connecticut has offered the Town of Newtown $50 million to build a new school. The town was polled and 88% of the townspeople wanted to accept the money. Is there some surprise that the townspeople would vote in this way. Is their some logic that their vote “proves” that the school should be torn down. I’m actually surprised that 12% would turn down the offer.

What might have been more interesting would have been if the State had given the Town $50 million unconditionally. Then ask the townspeople what to do with the money. The result may well have been different.

The results would have been the same. No one should have to step foot in that building again, thus the need for a new school. As a parent, I cannot imagine the horror of the day. The school building is woven into the nightmare.

A new school is a must and there is absolutely no reason to keep the old building. I agree with Emerald as well. There is the potential for the current building to become a magnet for another troubled soul or just an all out nut case.

I definitely think it should not be used as a school again but am not sure why it cannot be used for some other administrative/governmental purposes?
