<p>Part of the issue here, as well, is being from Massachusetts. We’re waaaaaaay overrepresented at the NE top schools, and it makes a huge difference. I think OP is being very realistic–the competition for admission to these schools is completely insane. ctyankee and OP are right–the scores are indeed middle of the road for those schools. He’s still got a completely reasonable chance of getting in, but it’s smart to have alternative plans. I’d like to second Colby–D is there now, had actually higher scores, and got good merit and need-based aid as an outstanding applicant. (And they don’t mind kids from Mass.!) And, need I say it (I keep saying this all over CC)–she loves it there!</p>
<p>Yeah that wasn’t my intention to annoy people with my header, I was just careless. I also found Schmaltz’s response really funny, so its all good. As for why I love my top schools, I think its the top liberal arts academics combined with beautiful campuses with just a feeling of comfort and sense of belonging that I can’t really decide. I like the school’s sizes, as well.</p>
