^^ The fact is that no one will say a chic is ugly, or a guy is ugly, on the message board for that exact reason: they dont want to hurt the persons feelings. So even fi someone who isn’t overly attractive posts a picture of themselves, other posters will even go as far as saying ‘oh, you look good’

I have no problems with the way I look, but I don’t want to post my myspace just randomly because in my opinion thats an example of arrogance. I think that if someone truly wanted to find out what other applicants/current students in engineering were like they should post a myspace/facebook thread instead of ‘hot looking people in engineering’. And just for the record, I have ‘participated’ in two myspace threads in here, and have yet to see one girl whos photos really opened my eyes :(

And also you will find there a lot of average looking people that have very high self-esteem and geniunely believe they look real good, I’ve seen it in real life, and i’ve seen it on here.

bluntly, i started this thread with a highly superficial intent, i won’t life. If i really wanted know what engineering boys were like on the inside, well i don’t really care what engineering boys are like on inside. At least not at my age. I’m not heartless, i just feel like i can be immature for now and my freshman year of college. And im not some stupid bimbo girl either. I just feel like acting my age at the moment.

Not to be mean, but at my school I would have to say that 99% of the guys in theatre arts are gay… So since a girl would not hook up with a gay guy, I say engineering. Moreso it would be hard to find a straight guy as well.

im only showing my pic through pm cause i don’t feel comfortable posting a pic to a message board where god knows who can look at it and do gods know what in front of it.

actually a lot of actors in hollywood and such have started out as a theater arts major. It wouldn’t hurt to date the next jake gylennhall.

Ok. I’m sure I don’t belong in this post, I’m a middle aged mother, but I just can’t help it!! Folks, I know being young you are going on hormones and looking for beautiful, hot people. BUT, please don’t ignore the power of the intelligence you have. Hot or not. But here’s the big thing. If you ARE good looking and intelligent…you possess great powers. And yes, you CAN be both intelligent and hot.

God…I didn’t realize that geekiness and intelligence still are conceived to go hand and hand til I came here and lurked around!! Do ya’ll remember that song “I wanna girl with short skirt and a long jacket?” Well, that guy was singing about a woman that had it all, sexiness and intelligence and wanting her in a bad way. What a combo.

Ok, going back to my middle aged world now. Thanks for allowing me to post. But please think about it.

You are probably the coolest middles aged mom around! haha

And just for clarification, how old is htat song because I have never heard it/about it.

The real place some people get these stereotypes from, myself included, are colelge tours where the guides/information session presenters still claim that engineers are the most socially outcasted of anyone. Ohh well, I will have to break that curse.

That song came out a couple years ago by “CAKE.” When it came out I really liked it because it sounded like she was a woman that was incredibly sexy and incredibly intelligent and made it really work for her. The guy singing the song wanted a girl like that. I liked it because it reminded me of my daughter who is very pretty and very intelligent. All girl and femininity, but has the intelligence to go incredibly far in the world. Just like all you girls do!!! :)

Here’s the lyrics to the song:

Cake

Short Skirt, Long Jacket

I want a girl with a mind like a diamond
I want a girl who knows whats best
I want a girl with shoes that cut
And eyes that burn like cigarettes

I want a girl with the right allocations
Whos fast, thorough, and sharp as a tack
Shes playing with her jewelry
Shes putting up her hair
Shes touring the facilities
And picking up the slack
I want a girl with a short skirt and a long jacket.

I want a girl who gets up early
I want a girl who stays up late
I want a girl with uninterrupted prosperity
Who uses a machete, to cut her red tape

With fingernails that shine like justice
And a voice that is dark like tainted glass
She is fast, thorough, and sharp as a tack
Shes touring the facilities and picking up the slack
I want a girl with a short skirt and a long, long jacket

I want a girl with smooth liquidation
I want a girl with the right dividends
At City Bank we will meet accidentally
Well start to talk when she borrows my pen

She wants a car with a cupholder armrest
She wants a car that will get her there
Shes changing her name
From Kitty to Karen
Shes trading her MG for a white Chrysler LeBaron
I want a girl with a short skirt and a long jacket

haha, just for clarification, I am an 17 year old male, but i bet all female engineers have brains and can be sassy if they choose to. It just is usually not during lab and such ;-)

Oh gosh, I’m so sorry! Well, let me just say you’re going to go very far in this world with such an outlook! :)

Personally, I think a man that admires an intelligent woman and encourages her to be all that she wants to be and can be and not be intimidated is a very sexy thing indeed. Take my husband for example. I went to nursing school when I was 30 with 2 small children after 10 years of marriage. He was all for it and was very supportive and helpful. He would never hold me back and also knew the financial rewards of doing this. In the south where many men still think women should be barefoot and pregnant (some not all think that way still), I think it’s wonderful.

Keep up your great outlook! You will be a very happy man in the long run, trust me! :)

Haha, there are attractive boys everywhere.

There are definitely attractive boys at MIT. There are some fraternities which are bastions of gorgeousness (most of them post their fraternity pictures on their websites), and of course there are adorable dorm boys too. (My boyfriend is the most adorable. But he’s taken already. ;))

And the best thing about MIT is that it’s a fabulously diverse place, so there are cute, smart boys of all nationalities and ethnicities! Hooray for diversity. :D

I mean, of course, in the interest of full disclosure, there are plenty of not-hot boys too. And I think the majority of the guys here are neither here nor there when it comes to looks. But it’s a nice healthy bell curve, not some sort of left-skewed monstrosity.
