I live in Massachusetts–the best public schools are definitely in towns where home prices are the highest. I’d guess it’s the same in other parts of the northeast as well. Give that, I’d look in the midwest. (We moved to MA from the midwest.) The suburbs of Detroit, Milwaukee, Cleveland, or St. Louis that have good school systems probably have housing stock that’s less expensive than comparable suburbs in the large northeast cities (Boston, NY, Philadelphia, DC).

@MizzBee I’m a Munster student! The education is extremely rigorous. Getting a 4.0 is nearly impossible, unless you take no honors classes. The APs are VERY hard. And there are a lot of them! There’s an 80 percent AP exam pass rate though, so you are getting a good education. It’s really nice being only half an hour away from Chicago.

If you’re coming into the high school from out if the school district, it’s really hard to get into any honors at all.

Sorry I’m reviving this old thread… I just searched my high school and it brought me to this thread xP

West Hartford, CT – at least the public schools there were excellent ten years ago.

This is the type of thread it really makes no sense to revive. If someone wants the answer to this question it would make more sense to start a new one and get fresh info. Closing thread.
