Hello Hopeful Dawg,

I think you and your mom need to get on the UGA admissions blog. Degraves does a great job of spelling out exactly what you need to do to have the best chance at getting in to UGA. I think rigor is very important to the process. They do not compare you to the average number of AP classes, but look at the number you were able to take at your school. If your school offers 15 AP’s and you take 2-3 they will not consider that you challenged yourself. They also look to see if you took AP’s in a variety of subjects.

I don’t think that you GPA is that low, but I would be very concerned that you haven’t taken any AP or honors courses. Your post doesn’t say what grade you will be entering next year, but I would really consider trying to take at least one AP if you will be in 10th and 2 AP’s if you are going into 11th. Also sign up to take the ACT or the SAT soon. Hopefully you will get the scores you need on the first time, but if not it gives you time to study and take the one you liked best again.

I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide to do, but please look at the blog it was a great source of guidence for us this past year.
