Got "accepted" to UIUC, but alternate?

Yes danny, once you choose your alternate major, it says that they will send the official acceptance letter!

Edit: but yes, I hope someone with some knowledge will comment soon! Hopefully it’s not THAT different…but at least we should have a solid chance to make it into our #1 majors

Edit 2: I found this post by drusba last year: “With the engineering major you must take the same math, physics, and chemistry courses that engineering majors typically take first and second year. With LAS major, you do not have to take those chemistry and physics courses but have to take some additional upper level math courses that engineering majors do not have to take. otherwise, the CS courses available are the same. The engineering major carries with it the national prestige of UIUCs engineering college. The LAS major, which has been around for only about six years, is not yet quite I. The same class but is getting there.”

Here is the link: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-illinois-urbana-champaign/1414139-whats-difference-between-computer-science-eng-vs-las.html

Basically, you take higher level math in LAS math&CompSci but dont need chemistry/physics ENG CS takes. But then, LAS from UIUC doesn’t have as much prestige as the ENG CS… boo
