<p>
Hey Austin, CSS major/econ minor here. I wouldn’t worry about name recognition–by and large there’s no difference between Wesleyan vs. Vassar/Bowdoin/Haverford. not that it should matter. certainly CSS is well-known to law schools.
Wes is a bit bigger than the other schools and can accomodate more diversity (of both demographic factors and interests), which is great, but one of the effects of that is since people are involved in such different things you won’t necessarily meet every single person the school the way you might at Haverford, which has less than half the number of students. I consider this a benefit to Wes because it means there’s always new people to meet who are different and interesting, and but I would say the less ‘tight-knit’ thing is probably true. I can’t really make the decision for you but you do seem like a good fit for Wes.</p>
<p>and about the winter thing: I wouldn’t say it ever gets that boring, but I do agree that it’s more fun overall when the weather is nice, especially because the warm weather happens at the beginning of the year (when frosh are getting to know each other, etc. and before most academic work picks up) and the end (when theses are finished and various end of year things happen). but the cold also forces you to hang out with people inside, and it makes you appreciate the nicer weather when it finally comes.</p>
