I agree with bluejay. Unless having a couple of unexcused absences is going to get you in big trouble, it’s worth missing school to be secure in your decision.

I think that with the new no loan policies at all of the schools, the FA policies may be comprable.

I agree with mythmom and momrath I am a little biased toward and love Williams , that you should definitely visit as each school has a distinct feel. However she did choose between Williams, Amherst and her current school as her top 3. Even though my child did not pick either in the end, both were really hard schools for her to give up. However, you can only attend one.

Personally, I would not worry about the middle of nowhere factor, because if you live in a big city and plan on coming back to it after graduation a total change of pace could be a good thing (remember college is a short 4 years).

Sit in on classes, talk to people, ask them straight up their likes and dislikes about the school and if they had to choose again, knowing what they know now, would they still attend.

No matter where you go, you will have an amazing college experience and get a wonderful education. Congrats on having 4 wonderful schools to choose from.

All things being equal, Swat is closest to the Philadelphia transportation hub / Amtrak which makes visits to other places easiest of the schools mentioned when you decide to go home, etc.

thanks again everyone for the great advice. i tried to talk my mom into letting me stay at amherst rather than williams but she said no…anyway i’m still waiting on financial aid packages but i’m guessing they’ll be similar since they got the exact same information. i guess i’m going to have to pray on it and hope i make the right choice. thanks again everyone!

I don’t understand your school’s restrictions on official visits… seems strange to me.

Your choice between the four schools is a really important one. Notwithstanding your school’s restrictions, I say visit them all… and overnight. and too bad if your school doesn’t like it. How could this choice not be much more important that whichever classes you will miss? You’ve worked your #@Ss off for several years, and now you’re resitricted on collecting the experiences you need to decide where to spend the next four years of your life??? Hello!!!

yeah, i already called my guidance counselor to explain the situation to my principal and deans so i’ll probably get to visit all them if only for a day and a night.
