@bethriley, those classes look good! I personally feel like I focused some on the Arts, as I wanted a more well-rounded experience, but I see you have AP Art History so you are fine! These classes for your sophomore year looks good! I would just say look for some community service opportunities or volunteering in a medical setting, such as in a hospital.
@coolgirl40, it will cost me about less than half of the original tuition to attend. However, that is before outside scholarships and cheaper room and board.
@dm4391, personally, I had a fairly low GPA due to my Freshman year of high school, however, I had a high upward trend which showed colleges that I had a large improvement academically. I do not think that there is a strict number of APs for admission, I think that your performance in those classes matters more. SAT/ACT scores, in my opinion, boost your GPA, if it is high enough. However, NYU has a flexible testing policy!

@anonymous032, I know many students at NYU who are pursuing multiple things, such as double-majoring or minoring in a subject. I decided to pursue both pre-med and media because of my interests in both the Humanities and STEM. I am interested in how media can affect public health and the relationship between people and the media! They are two very different fields, however, I feel like they capture both of my interests the most!
Hi, I am planning to apply ED to NYU Abu Dhabi, but I am afraid I won’t qualify for much financial aid. Is it hard to break the ED offer if I am unhappy with financial aid? Does it require financial “proof”?
How much does gpa matter for going into pre-med? I’m a sophomore and have gotten 4 B’s so far, which might not be good for my overall GPA. I do attend a nationally ranked STEM high school in which I had to apply for it and will take rigorous chemistry and biology classes, but how much would you say that will affect my chances of getting into a decently ranked pre med school?
Congratulations!! Cannot go wrong with NYU!
@thestranger4567, if you are not able to afford NYU, then you have the option to opt out of the ED agreement.
@itachikun, I believe that GPA is extremely important, however, I also believe the difficultly of the class and school will be taken into account. I also believe that extracurriculars that pertain to community service are extremely important as well. I believe that if you show your interest and focus your studies and extracurriculars to Pre-Med, then you will be fine!
@xgendude, thank you! I’m super excited!
I’m on the IB track have a 3.8 GPA, and ACT 33. What are my chances of getting in to NYU if I don’t apply ED?

@geckogeek, here is the link for the facts and figures of NYU’s Class of 2023. I believe that extracurriculars, recommendations, and your college essays are another huge part of the admissions process. You have good grades and a good ACT, however, if you find yourself lacking on extracurriculars, I’d say focus on those more.
I’ve got a good mix of extracurriculars and expect good recommendations. I thought about applying ED II because I’m considering another school for my top choice which is more of a reach. But having second thoughts about whether I should be applying ED to NYU.
Hi, what kind of GPA and other factors does it take to get into NYU? Do you have to have straight As throughout high school or do they care more about what your GPA currently is? (I’m a HS junior). And how much do extracurriculars, recommendations, and SAT scores play into the admissions process?
Agree
What were your arts/humanities activities like in high school? Were there any arts/humanities contests you did, and recommend other students to do?
@geckogeek , when I decided to apply ED for NYU, I made sure that I truly knew that it was the place for me. It is a big decision to make, but once you do more research and see how you feel in the near future, then it will work out!

@MayanaAC , I personally had a below-average GPA, but I had amazing extra extracurriculars and community service opportunities. I believe that your GPA and SAT/ACT scores are only a portion of the admissions process, the rest are your meaningful extracurriculars, essays, and recommendations! I personally felt that my essay, recommendations, and extracurriculars were my strong points!
@anon3221 , I personally love photography, so I participated in local competitions and Scholastics Arts and Writing Competitions. I focused more on analog photography because my school had a darkroom. It was more of cultivating my interests rather than strictly doing it for competitions or contests. I recommend students to find an artistic release, whether in painting, photography, or music and etc. However, if the arts may not be your thing, your interests can be in sports or other extracurriculars!
@worksmartnothard , apart from the Biology and Chemistry labs that were required, I did not do any scientific research in high school. However, I do plan on doing some research in college, but I am still researching and looking into it.
