Got to love Comcast! Mrs. Brown gets a new name!

I’ll disagree here. Comcast for us has been awesome. We are in the boonies and the guy handling service at the house LOVES cable and does a great job. Our speeds are high. We use windows media center, so we have no Comcast equipment in the house except a cable card. Maybe that’s why everything works so smoothly.

My D hates Comcast. She is in San Francisco and has no other option. Her service is fine but the cost is extreme for what they are giving her in terms of channels. She is moving and the first call she made was to Comcast to cancel. D2 had Comcast in Davis and she paid less and had better channel selection.
We have Cox which is fine. We bundle TV, internet and phone. The phone service is exponentially improved over our phone sound quality from Verizon. With Verizon we always had a crackle in the line making it almost impossible to hear. We need a landline since our cell service at home isn’t good.

^^ Ditto. The basic service do work, but at close to 200 dollars for basic TV and internet, it is expensive for what you get. It is not as fast as advertised and most people just give up arguing with them as it is a waste of time. That happens where there are no real alternatives.

We have TIme Warner Cable–about $20 month for basic (about 10 channels). We also have our local phone company provide our landline and DSL. We used to be paying them $80/month but when I threatened to switch, they dropped it to $60 or so. We are happy with them–they are very responsive and our speed is about 20, which is fast enough for D & H.

It would have been about $60 if we had all 3 services with TIme Warner but we like our local phone company and we like the landline NOT being fiber optic and still being considered a utility that is regulated by PUC and has to be put back in service promptly. If we had switched to Time Warner and had digital phone, it would NOT be a utility and not be regulated by PUC. We do lose power periodically for up to a few hours or even a day or longer and like that the phone continues to work even when power is out.

CenturyLink DSL started having trouble keeping our line up a few months ago. Had service calls, many customer service calls, but the could not fix the problem (or even diagnose it…). Switched to Comcast about 6 weeks ago; have rebooted the modem once since then. Much better so far.

Comcast…where do I begin ?
Our situation is sort of unique. We have multiple accounts with them, most of which are commercial. One of them is stuck in a sort of limbo over whether it should be commercial or residential. Billing is nothing short of a nightmare, mostly because their customer service cannot seem to grasp the concept that there is one address for bills to be mailed. Some of our service locations are either seasonal , or in once case a warehouse with internet only for the purpose of security cams and occasional use of a laptop for inventory control. So, bills go to places with no mail box. Try to get that fixed with customer service.
Since we are somewhat complicated , we requested they send us an account rep to iron all of our accounts out to streamline them.
Seemed like a good idea and we had an appointment set up…then he didn’t show . Texted him since we rearranged our day for this appointment and his response ( days later ) was that he had a " family emergency " and would be in a work meeting all day…that was 10 days ago
We have had similar experiences with the gas company and electric company too recently
I really think they have all dumber down their service and retired knowledgeable people with cheaper , inexperienced labor that just doesn’t care…and there is no accountability

We have had comcast for many years. A couple months ago our service started having problems. I called they tried to fix it over the phone but couldn’t so they sent someone out. The guy said our line was dropping it’s signal and needed to be replaced so he ran a new line from the box and a couple weeks later they came out a buried it. THEN we got the bill $85 dollars for them to replace the line. WTH it has taken me 2 months and numerous phone calls to get them to take that $85 off. Plus most of the customer service people can’t speak English. It’s unbelievable… we are considering going to uverse.

I hear so much about poor Comcast customer service but add me to the few above who haven’t had a problem. I agree that I pay more than I think I should but the service itself has been fine. When I have had to call, they have that feature where you enter your number and they call you back so, even if it takes awhile, at least I can be home doing what I want and not tied to the phone. I have found the CSRs pleasant and generally able to solve my issue. I’m in northern California.
