I saw you already came up with an idea after talking with him, but just wanted to share what I received in case it helps anyone else…
When I graduated high school, my parents got me a decently nice set of luggage. It really came in handy not only during school but for traveling as well. I used it for quite a few years after school as well. I did upgrade it a few years ago because the newer luggage pieces have those wheels that spin all the way around… but that set served me well for 15 years or so.
