Graduation Speakers -- how were they?

My nephew just graduated and the alum speaker had invented Baked Lays potato chips. Apparently they sell well but I, a lover of chips, don’t eat them.

She was amazing!!

^^^the speaker at Syracuse University commencement was fantastic

Best commencement speaker I’ve ever heard was Patti Smith, she was truly phenomenal.

I cannot remember which graduation this was for, I went to a lot as a teen, but there was a student speaker whose jokes were not appropriate for commencement. Something to be shared among peers with jokes about low work ethic and drive, but not a good look for the school.

When my older daughter graduated high school, she was responsible for finding the graduation speaker. She got Bernie Sanders.

When my younger daughter graduated college, the university speaker was Hillary Clinton.

I’m done with my own kids’ graduations. However, believe it or not, I watched a livestream today of a graduation (imagine, I didn’t even have to!). I watched because my younger daughter had been invited to perform at the graduation of her former school within her university, which was a very nice honor and so I wanted to watch. I ended up watching the whole thing. I was touched when listening to the Dean of the School’s own speech, because the latter section of it focused on the meaning of my daughter’s original song that she was going to perform later in the ceremony and so that meant a lot to me (though she pronounced my kid’s last name wrong).
