Just one drawback - International student requesting for high financial aid.
Guess somethings arenāt meant to be.
Are international students eligible for merit based awards?
@drgigantor received 28K merit based award. Could @curiousboy178 have gotten that too? just wondering
No⦠I was rejected because I needed 100% need based financial aid. I am a first gen and from a low income family as well.
@curiousboy178 grinnell is need blindā¦
@honestlyidek
Not for international students.
Only 5 universities in US is need blind for international students.
MIT
Harvard
Princeton
Yale
Amherst
@curiousboy178 it may be that you didnāt show enough demonstrated interest. Iām also an admitted international student with a high need factor (stats: 1510, Sub tests - 800, 760; 3.9 UW GPA)
Possibly, But I personally feel if I didnāt require 100% financial aid, I would have got in. Also I am an Indian and there are many Indian applicants so they would have chosen someone who can pay at least partial fees instead of me.
Son just accepted with $25K merit aid per year as well as some need based aid. He is SO happy as Grinnell is his first choice (before taking financial aid into consideration). So far he was accepted at Grinnell and Macalester, and Waitlisted at Wash U and University of Chicago. He has some more apps out there and I am encouraging him to wait and consider all of his offers as they come in, but most likely he will be at Grinnell this Fall.
Congrats to all who have been accepted and best wishes to those who wanted to get in and did not. There is a school out there for you that will make you happy.
Hi! Congrats to everyone who got accepted and best wishes to those who sadly couldnāt get in. I wanted to share my profile for future applicants who will be obsessively browsing through these forums next year

Hi, Iām an accepted student. Will we receive an acceptance package in the mail soon?
I would think so @goldmidnight7 . My son received his acceptance about a month ago, the the package arrived in the mail within a short number of days (less than a week). Congrats!
Thank you!
@lilzuni I think so, but Iām not sure if merit decisions come out at the same time as their acceptance decisions. Since I got 40k USD need-based aid (a combination of grants, work, and loans.) I was wondering am I eligible for a merit award, or because I already have so much aid or am I just not that exceptional ><.
But their website does state everyone is eligible, so donāt fret I think. You could call them if youāre really worried.
Thanks @Angie106
