It seems like they choose some of the best universities in the world. No surprise at all. Why not. Sign me up.
Also I only cut grass at a boarding school. My in laws are 4 generations at Deerfield. Yes 4. Imho legacy and family pull and overall academic reputation are incredibly powerful forces on these campuses.
Lastly. I didn’t see @merc81 as suggesting Groton or any bs was influencing the colleges they attend @CaliMex. Simply an interesting look at a particular type of elite bs student choices.
None of this can make much sense given how small Groton is. Naturally, students are going to matriculate at the best colleges as they perceive those schools. Many Groton grads have alumni parents at top schools as well so the data is off right there. BS in general will all have kids applying and getting accepted to top colleges across the US. This is the case at Groton and really any school you look at. Kids also follow the leader. Schools fall in and out of popularity. One year it may be Duke and another year NYU. But kids are applying to the same type schools ( top 50) and are going to go there. Not all of those schools are in the same calibre. Some are for the very top graduates and others are just great schools.
These colleges seem to be popular with Middlesex students as well (alphabetical, and not adjusted for college size as in the original post):
