Groton

bumptious.

When Groton’s Course Catalog reads:

does this mean that only 1 full year of science is required over 3 years? Are remaining courses in science all electives?

Please clarify if you know the answer.

I think it’s standard for many schools to require two years of science during the four years. I guess science is rquired for 9th grade in Groton?

I think it is…bio or AP environmental studies.

To clarify, my question was whether only 1 full year of science is all that is required in the Upper School, which the text suggests.

If you consider 8/9 the Lower School, and 10/11/12 Upper, then yes, I think your reading of the text is correct.

If you think of it in a traditional 9-12 format, then 2 years would be required, one of which is mandatory in 9th grade - a choice of either Bio or AP Env. Sci.

So a student entering Grade 10 or later would only have 1 year of science?

^I think it’s rare at any school that science is not required in 9th grade, so Groton could assume that’s true and require only one science after 9th grade.

Groton does not seem to offer SYA, but are there term (or yearlong language) programs abroad in both French and Spanish?
