I have an Android and I get group texts. We are having an awful time with one large group right now. Several people have asked to be removed, but no one seems to know how to remove them, so no one dares text anything. As soon as we start a new list, someone will respond to the old list. Some people are paying for texts and another claims it’s draining her battery.
Im old and still use facebook a ton. Its my parents preferred messaging system (via messenger) as well so that helps. Our family love seeing pics of the kids and being updated so I just do it on social media so that they can review when its convenient for them.

I am on a few group texts: my family has a What’s App group and so does one of my fitness groups. My running buddies have a regular group text. I have no issues with either, it’s the easiest way to communicate with multiple people. If you put the phone numbers in your contacts list along with the names, the names will show up.

I abhor group texts that include people I’m not friends with. Family group texts are fine. I’m on a couple and we share information.
Actually I have a family member who likes to be passive aggressive with me (it’s a sibling). I opt out of that because I really don’t need it.
But those group texts that include dozens of people that I don’t have their phone number, it’s hard to figure out what’s going on. Or figure out how to get out of.

I’ve recently been receiving a number of spam group texts. “Refinance your house! Beautiful ladies waiting for you!” that kind of thing. No way to opt out. I mute them but a new one pops up right after with 10 people replying “remove me from this list.”
The worst.
You can block texts either through your phone or through your carrier. Verizon just showed me how to block junk texts coming from email addresses.
