Terrible loss of lives…

Praying for the city of Boston as I go to bed tonight…

There are reports of explosions connected with this Watertown situations. Dare we hope that they’ve already tracked down the Marathon bombers?

Yes, they have 2 suspects. Rumored ID of white hat suspect (suspect #2) is missing Brown student Sunil Tripathi.

Rumored ID of 1st suspect is Mike Mulugeta. Also rumored is that suspect #1 is dead.

Twitter has been burning up with real time reporting of what’s been going on.

Also rumored to have found a pressure cooker.

The one suspect is dead after killing a police officer, still searching for the 2nd.

Four days after texting S “Explosives at marathon, we are OK.” I wake up to son sending “Shooter at MIT, we are safe at home.” Harvard and MIT closed for the day. The last thing I read was that police were doing a house to house search in Watertown.

All of Boston is now under lockdown. People are being told to STAY HOME.

S1 is a grad student at MIT and walks past the site on a daily basis where the officer was shot and killed. DH called and woke him up this morning to tell him to stay home today and not got into the lab. S was already aware of what had happened last night.

The younger brother also lived within reasonable walking distance of S’s apartment. We were just there visiting him on Sun and drove within 2 blocks of the suspect’s apartment.

This is all just too close for comfort. I feel for those who’ve been injured or killed and hope this all ends soon.

My oldest is in Boston. He’s been at a conference at MIT and was in the building at MIT where the shooter was. Thanks be to God, he left that building 2 hours before the shooter began shooting.

Now he is stuck in his hotel room. Public transportation is shut down so we don’t know when he’ll be able to make his way home.

I am so grieved for those who were wounded/killed by these shooters.
Praying.

Tufts is shut down too. I’m thinking my kid is safer in Amman!

Younger brother is a student at UMass-Dartmouth. He was living in a college dorm there.

So sad. Prayers for all involved.

I work at MIT and my H and I were at an event on campus last night and left a little more than an hour before the shooting occurred on campus - pretty close to where we were. Didn’t know the officer but had seen him on campus. The MIT community has lost a hero.

Went in to workout at the Z-Center at 6 this morning and about 15 minutes in, a PA announcement said that the Z-Center was closing.

My town has been under lockdown since mid-morning. It’s like a ghost town here right now, but we want to make it as easy as possible for the authorities to catch the suspect. Just hope they’ll find him while they still have daylight and that all the officers emerge unharmed.

I have to say that the brothers certainly don’t look like terrorists. The older one looks like a party guy, and the younger one has the face of an angel.

He is a beautiful child but he has something that I’ve noticed in other mass murderers… dead eyes.

You look at his eyes and there is no “there” there. There’s no interior light. It’s the creepiest thing.

Saw a play that is reflective of this, Hedda Gabler, a sociopath. It is hard to know whether photos are accurate depictions or not sometimes. “Dead eyes,” are something that is commonly ascribed to sociopaths.

I took another look and you’re right, VillageMom. His eyes do look dead.

My thoughts are with all of you who are in that area or have children at the schools affected. I hope they get him soon. I have a feeling they are going to find him dead somewhere.

Isn’t it creepy? It’s not just a grim expression. It’s not necessarily defiant or trying to be tough. It’s… soulless.

That’s interesting about it being ascribed to sociopaths. The first time I noticed such a thing was in a photo of Charles Manson. The photo was frightening, even though he was safely behind bars. I realized that it wasn’t the swastika on his forehead, it was his totally dead eyes.

How do you get to that point at the tender age of 19?
