Gurney for mom

Non-medical transport isn’t just for doctor visits. They’ll take you anywhere you want to go, including the cemetery and your aunt’s senior housing.

EMTs we know say putting a person on a gurney who is non-ambulatory is a two person transfer…for folks trained on how to do this.

If you actually decide to do the gurney thing…please get training on this type of transfer. It isn’t all that easy, and you want to make sure the person is safely transferred.

If you do decide to do this, I suggest getting an egg crate or thick foam pad cut to fit. Gurneys are meant to transport from point A to point B, they aren’t very comfortable to lay on for an extended period of time. Also make sure the one you get has belts with buckles to hold her in and a raised panel at the foot.

OP, thumper is right about transfers. An untrained person trying to transfer a non-ambulatory person is an accident waiting to happen. And even trained people don’t attempt to do it alone; it takes two of them. Seriously. It’s very dangerous.
