Goodness. Go somewhere else! I’ve rarely found anyone at the “best” salons who is worth jumping through hoops to see.
I actually found a great hair cutter at Great Clips and go there. I have no problem moving around to find someone at my convenience. My hair looks better with this stylist than any of the $100+ stylists I have used.
I do my own color and am not a nails person so one “splurge” of maintenance is not out of line as the add says, “because I’m worth it!”
It’s strange. Before we recently moved I paid $70 for my haircut, plus tip, but only $30 to get my dog groomed (including all the extras).
I was really happy to find a good haircut in the new place for $45 or $50 but unhappy that it now costs $55 to groom little Poochie! At least the dog groomer comes to our house in a little van and does it all right there at the curb.
This thread reminds me of a story:
Back in the early 1970s, when I was in my early 20s and living in New York City, news reports indicated that Jackie O got her hair styled at (I think) Kenneth’s, in the Waldorf Astoria. I had yet to find a haircut place that I liked, so I called them one day and asked how much Mr. Kenneth charged for a haircut. They got all snooty and refused to tell me on the phone – “Mr. Kenneth is the owner of the salon, and you will need to make an appointment!” I’m sure he charged several hundreds even back then, but I wondered – and still wonder – how one decides to go to one place or another if they won’t even tell you the price.
And no, I never had Mr. Kenneth cut my hair.
Maybe my life would have turned out differently if I had.
