<p>UC San Diego has a good Bio-Engineering Program, and has a summer program called COSMOS with a Bio-Medical/Bio-Engineering cluster. My son is at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and had two hands-on projects his first quarter, but he is an Aerospace major (so will also have to endure lots of math and physics classes - although his first physics class involved computer modeling which was both frustrating and interesting.
