  15. take a class, not sure what in. Maybe Spanish or cooking. Maybe something else. Probably in the fall. We are just a mile from the community college. I can combine my walks with the class and walk to get there. WILL LOOK INTO THIS FOR THE FALL

I will have to think about if there is more.>>

I am now adding a few that have been on my mind, just not at the moment I wrote the above.

  1. dental and vision appointments NOT YET
  2. I want to hit my step count goal more often than not, even on the days I don’t take walks to be walking. I will feel more productive and less bored if I am up moving more. YES, MORE OFTEN, THOUGH NOT YET OFTEN ENOUGH
  3. make a fruit smoothie most days in my new Nutribullet YES
  4. try reading books through listening via libro.fm. It is a way to listen through my phone and I picked a local, independent bookstore that will benefit from the books I buy. I can listen while I walk. I am not used to reading books this way, though it will make me happy to support an independent book store and move more at the same time. YES, I’VE BEEN LISTENING WHILE WALKING. IT IS WHAT MOTIVIATES ME TO DO THE WALKING, IT IS THE ONLY TIME THAT IS QUIET ENOUGH TO LISTEN
  5. Go on a vacation with my husband that does not involve seeing family or going to a work related conference at the same time. Probably in the late summer or fall. NEED TO WORK ON PLANNING THIS

How is everyone doing with this?

H and I had our eyes checked yesterday and ordered new glasses. We have not done any traveling, hoping to drive to my parents area in late June for their 60th anniversary.

Otherwise, I have made little headway.

I’m afraid to look at my list because I will feel sad over all the things I can’t do for the time being!!! :frowning:

But I just looked. I have completed a few. Made some progress on a few (like started a bedroom redo). Some are being done with a tweak - like I wanted to plant something new - I had selected sweet potatoes. But I was unable to go to the place where I would normally get the starters so am growing fingerling potatoes - they were available to me and I haven’t grown them before.

I also wanted to join a book club. Not what I had in mind, but I am doing a virtual book “club-discussion” on Zoom tomorrow night through our local library system.

There are still 7 months left in the year!!

I was supposed to retire in lieu of lay-off December 31st. So a lot of my list corresponded to that. At the last minute it got extended to June 30th (and may be extended to December). Also I wanted to spend more time with my parents, my dad is in Memory Care and visitors have been prohibited since March 14th, so that hasn’t been possible. All my travel and dining out have not been possible either.

But, because I couldn’t play tennis (or go to yoga), during quarantine, I got a Peloton and I have exercised every day the last few months. And since I had extra time I organized all the closets in the house. I want to get professional closet organizers for my master closet, since it isn’t an emergency, I will wait for things to open up for that.

I posted on March 21 and was bummed about a lot that couldn’t be done.

  1. Continue taking Chinese ink brush class once a week in NYC **Classes were cancelled, but then reconstituted on Zoom**
  2. Go to a museum after class since I never do any work when I get home anyway **Found some great pages on facebook. (Japanese block prints, some ink painting sites. The Cleveland Museum of Art has high quality uploads of scrolls so that you can see more than you can see in an average exhibit**
  3. Paint regular watercolor once a week – minimum 3x3 (good Instagram size) **Weirdly, I can't seem to get back to watercolors now, but I've been doing lots of ink painting, so I am not feeling too guilty about it**
  4. See 1 movie a month – preferably a new release - **So far all I've seen since early March is Emma.**
  5. Read 50 books - **Still on track.**
  6. Say no to doing any legalization architectural work - **It's been hard to be firm, but I've turned down several yucky jobs!**
  7. Say no to potential clients I don’t like on the phone - **Doing okay.**
  8. Exercise 3x a week and find a tracking system that works for me - **I've been pretty consistant here. Weight work plus DH is totally invested in walking most days.**
  9. Speaking of tracking, make my Bullet Journal work better - **SO SO still :( **
  10. Eat vegetarian on weekdays -**Have had a lot of leftovers from weekend takeout to support local restaurants, so not as good as I had hoped.**
  11. Track food for one month - done, not tracking, but I am being more mindful ** done, not tracking, but I am being more mindful **
  12. Start a book club with two old friends who were PTA presidents with me - **NOPE not happening**
  13. Or at least play board games with them (see them every other month minimum) - **NOPE not happening**
  14. Update will, now that we finally know what our assets are - ** LA LA LA**
  15. Set up a “When did I last ___?” page in Bullet journal, for chores, doctor appointments, car stuff etc. **DID IT but don't always remember to write things down in it**
  16. Hike at least every other week if weather is over 40 degrees and it is not raining. **See #8, though we are avoiding crowded parks on weekends**
  17. Have a wine tasting party - **We had one before CV19, have attended some virtual wine tastings**
  18. Work on expanding friendship group, probably by getting to know people I like in the neighborhood better - **NOPE not happening**
  19. Get a mini-split AC system - **Still need to follow up on this**
  20. Put a water feature in my garden so I can qualify for a Certified Wildlife Habitat® sign - **Ordered a birdbath and solar bubbler. Should arrive next week.**

I still refer to mine, mostly because I’m keeping track of my book titles. And while my book reading time has decreased, I’m in the middle of my 17th book out of 20.

Most of my tasks had to be abandoned because of the virus. But I did do my strict 12 week diet plan and feel in great shape. We did one fun thing/month until the shut down. We sort of attended older S’ graduation. It just wasn’t the one we expected. We are still planning to move him into his apartment in 1 month and the cabin rental in October is still on. I’d also still like to hike McAfee knob in June if it opens back up. We would go on a Tuesday, so hopefully it won’t be as crowded. I don’t know if I’ll repeat last fall’s cleaning process, but we had our attic re-done and I completely organized everything. It looks amazing and was on my to do list for over a decade. It’s no longer a scary toxic wasteland! And I also purged my filing cabinet and everything is nice and neat and organized there as well. (I admit I did this in case I died from the virus and people needed to figure it out.)

  1. learn how to use my Instapot- USED IT TO MAKE OUR CORNED BEEF ON ST. PATRICK'S DAY - BEST CORNED BEEF EVER!! REALIZED IT WAS DIFFICULT TO USE ** haven't used since**
  2. make overdue doctor appointments (eye/gyno/physical/etc.)-MADE EYE APPT - HAD TO RESCHEDULE DUE TO CV. DID GYNO. MADE PHYSICAL APPT - NEW NATUROPATHIC PHYSICIAN, FIRST AVAILABLE APPT WAS OCT!** still haven't gotten to appointments. In fact, cancelled my dentist appointment that was for today. Not comfortable doing that yet**
  3. get back to taking daily vitamins - HAVEN'T MISSED A DAY, GOING GREAT ** have not been doing well. Need to get back on track**
  4. read 12 books on my list - HAVE BEEN READING MORE ** again, not doing well. Feeling too restless to focus. Have instead been doing daily crossword puzzles at night**
  5. watch 12 movies on my list - HAVE SEEN FIVE ** have now crossed out 12 total off the list **
  6. create and use a daily cleaning schedule - CREATED AND USING MAYBE 50% OF THE TIME ** still doing this, probably 75-80% of the time**
  7. find a new hairstyle - NOPE. MAY HAVE D HELP ME SINCE SHE'S HOME ** our hairdresser has always come to our home to do everyone's hair, so we have been keeping our regular appointments. She wears a mask; we are comfortable with that. I did have her change my part. Baby steps, lol. **
  8. monthly date night with husband - HAD DONE A HANDFUL BEFORE CV ** boo CV **
  9. create and use budget to better control spending - NOPE ** still haven't gotten to this, but we have been spending far less than usual so there's that **
  10. create and use weekly menu plan to get back to healthier eating - STARTED WELL BUT HAVEN'T BEEN DOING LATELY ** up and down with this one. H says he's going to join me for a get ready for summer diet shape up **
  11. purchase a book on gratitude or a gratitude journal, and use it - PURCHASED BOOK BUT HAVEN'T READ YET. PURCHASED JOURNAL, ONLY USING IT ABOUT 10% OF THE TIME ** #fail **
  12. create education goals (take a class, teach myself something new, attend a lecture, etc.) - NOPE ** have been taking French lessons via Duolingo and have gotten pretty far, doing regularly **
  13. do more cardio (find a walking or running group for accountability? in-home videos?) - UP AND DOWN, PROBABLY AVERAGING ABOUT 2-3X/WEEK ** had gotten on a daily cardio schedule, running/walking/hiking but have not done anything for a couple of weeks. Gotta get myself back on track **
  14. visit my mother more often - GOT TO SEE HER SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE CV ** went for a social distanced visit on Easter. Hoping to do more once the weather gets warm. We had a few nice days but it's cold again **
  15. use up gift cards - NOPE, AND NOW WONDERING WHETHER HALF THE BUSINESSES WILL STILL BE AROUND WHEN THIS IS ALL OVER ** nothing **
  16. work on scrapbook - NOPE BUT THIS WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO START. I HAVE ALL THE MATERIALS ** nothing. Forgot this was even on my list! **
  17. go through wardrobe, getting rid of what doesn't fit/fixing what needs repair/purchasing needed staples) - NOPE, AGAIN A GOOD TIME TO DO THIS ** no. Still waiting to lose some weight sigh. I did swap out my winter/summer clothes though. **

Bonus: D and I cleaned out the attic over Memorial Day weekend. Our attic is like an episode of Hoarders, so this was a really good thing. Filled our front lawn with everything we wanted to get rid of (with a big FREE sign) and almost everything found a new home!

I just happened upon my 20 for 20 list.
Unfortunately, to do most of the things on my list I need to be social, something that’s NOT a good idea right now.

I did something the other day that I thought “oh, this is something I can cross off my 2020 list!” - but when I checked it wasn’t ON my list!

I just reviewed mine a couple days ago. Still have some work to do. A few are not likely to happen due to COVID. But several will be checked off. Those darn photo books are always such a challenge for me to get motivated to complete!
