I still have a lot of yummy leftovers from Halloween and Christmas. I honestly don’t need more. H and I will likely be together for Valentine’s day and at home. It’s currently pouring and I hope it decides to stop raining for tomorrow. We will see.
We have parent -teacher interviews for kids who did poorly on Progress Reports last week.
So my husband will order Chinese food for himself and the 2 kids who are at home. My older daughter will spend it with her friends at school. And I’ll have dinner with my friends at school, and then spend the evening talking to kids about putting in more effort.
And it’s all OK. Valentine’s Day, like New Years Eve, is amateur night. True love is not a $50 box of chocolates. True love is “Honey, you look tired. Why don’t you put the chicken in the fridge until tomorrow, and I’ll order a pizza?”
@MaineLonghorn - fantastic news!! Hope your Valentine’s Day is amazing.
A friend who lives in Japan sent me a very nice e card today, and sent a Chinese NY card snail mail a few weeks back. I was thinking how much I appreciate the celebration of holidays just because it is fun and creative. And given winter doldrums, we could use a little good cheer. Maybe will do something for D tomorrow. As I work with hearts, I do think celebrating hearts and the many sorts of love as described by the Greeks elevates us all.
So got my wife a dozen “White” Rose’s this morning at our supermarket the Jewel. I like the traditional red but have been told more then once that she prefers White! They have great flowers for a decent price. She would be mad if I got expensive chocolates since they all go on sale tomorrow. Trust me on that!
I got a bag of red hot candies that I like.
That’s about it. Gotta go to work and I work late on Thursdays. We are going out for Indian food on Saturday with other couples.
Got a text from a friend today wishing me a Happy V day. It was nice! A neighbor who is older and we take care of her yard slipped a homemade card in our mailbox - very heartfelt and nice! My kids all sent a humorous text and V-Day bitmoji in a family text today - fun!
It can be the $50 box of chocolate. It can be the pizza to relieve the dinner task. It can be a card or a text or a smile. Or a bouquet of flowers.
The point of the thread wasn’t to measure “gifts of love”. It was to celebrate loving.
And happy day to @MaineLonghorn and family! <3
My kid called and is driving 5 hours round trip to take me out to dinner.
Since I drove with her all over creation because she wanted to be “proofed” on her 18th birthday (finally went for spray paint at Walmart after buying cigarettes, wine and lottery cards unchecked) she said she wants to be here the first day I can show mine to qualify for senior discounts!
DH gave me a box of Sees dark chocolate candy and a Wonder Woman card, which shows that he actually does have some idea of what I like.
