<p>Chicago is not a land of winter gloom. </p>

<p>Curious weather fact is that the same conditions that produce the really cold weather also make for sparklingly clear days.</p>

<p>Here’s the NOAA percent sunshine data for Chicago by month:</p>

<p>CHICAGO,IL 44 49 51 50 58 67 66 62 59 55 38 43 54</p>

<p>Austin?</p>

<p>AUSTIN/CITY, TX 49 51 55 54 56 69 75 74 66 64 54 49 60</p>

<p>So except for October, the difference is not huge.</p>
