HARDEST sports to play

Boxing is the hardest. You eaily can die or suffer serious brain injuries.
Wrestling is the next most difficult. Your opponent is doing everything possible to destroy you and make you look like a chump. The physical conditioning of a good wrestler is unbelievable, especially if you consider the weight control obligations of wrestlers.
Third, would be football. Football pads simply do not protect football players from the countless collisions with eachother and the ground. A substantial number of pro football players end their careers disabled.

Wrestling/MMA sports are by far the most grueling and toughest physical challenges out there. You’re giving it your all, every damn muscle of your body to dominate the other opponent. I’ve done XC and although it’s also horrendously tough, its not the same strain you get while you’re in the 3rd period with a equally skilled opponent. And everyone I know that plays football and wrestles admits that wrestling is far more physically challenging.

Skillwise, basketball and tennis are high up there.

bocci ball is pretty badass

im starting muay thai lessons soon… ahah! kick-knee-punch-elbow

i knew people were gonna say weirder sports.

i wanted it to be kept at team sports only, but oh well… :)

basketball is the best !

I’d have to say taekwondo. It’s similar to boxing and wrestling in that you have to make weight. I’ve gone days without eating just to make my weight, it is horrible and a grueling mental task. But, the mental sacrifices are only part of it. In taekwondo, the matches usually consist of 3 2-minute rounds. You have six minutes to push yourself past your limits in order to make all the training you did (sometimes 15-20 hours/week) pay off. If you win your match, you advance but if you lose there are no second chances. The tournaments are almost always single-elimination. Often taekwondo athletes work so hard and win many tournaments but there are only 8 people selected to represent the United States in the Olympics every four years. You have to be fit enough to make the lowest weight possible healthily, fast enough to evade your opponent’s attacks, quick enough to respond with your own defensive attack, powerful enough to score a point, and strong enough mentally to even just step into the ring. It takes a lot, but it’s worth it.

TRIATHLON!!!

the sport for true ballers!

but a triathlon is a combination of sports. anyone can make a competition out of a bunch of sports. wouldn’t a decathalon be harder. or a milliontathlon.

and just cause boxing it more painful and deadly, it doesnt make it harder. like i said before, take a boxer and try and teach him tennis for a month. he/she is gonna suck. but take a tennis player and teach him boxing for a month, he/she will be better at boxing than the boxer was at tennis. there are limited skills you need for boxing. big muscles and big balls. people dont want to box because who wants to be hit to death? is beating people up really that hard? dont get me wrong, boxing is hard in terms of taking the pain and having the guts to get hit hard, but skill wise its not to difficult. punch hard and block. and you need just as much if not more endurance in many other sports.

^ and tennis is all about who can run back and forth faster and swing the racket harder… right?

swing it with aim…

i think a tennis player who learned boxing for a month would be pretty terrible at it

and i don’t think a boxer could ever play tennis :)

If its just team sports, then its definitely gotta be waterpolo. Thats the most physically demanding team sport i’d think… I mean its just like soccer, except you’re TREADING WATER instead of standing.

cycling?

they burn like 6,000-10,000 calories a day

yeah, i think a tennis boy who learned boxing for a month would end up with a bloody polo shirt.

you losers are so biased… nirvana… in soccer they run… for miles a game… and in water polo you sit in a nice pool and float around… see i can be biased too, durrrrrp.

Boxing is called the “sweet science” for a reason; there’s an immense amount of skill and strategy involved, which is why fighters, guys who only have big muscles and big balls, always get annihilated by true boxers.

Tennis requires a lot of psychological toughness, but as a physical test it’s not even close to wrestling, boxing, or water polo.

team sports…i’d have to go with soccer or rugby…overall…tennis :)…turn on the Wimbledon men’s finals right now…look at these guys!..actually just look at Federer…now that’s skill

As far as team sports, I think certain positions in football are the hardest. Cornerbacks have to be extremely quick in short space with instantaneous changes of direction. They also have to be able to sprint with the fastest guys on the opposing team’s offense and still be able to come up and hit in run support. The conditioning work that goes into preparing for that on a high level must be brutal. Fullback is another tough position people might not think about. Those guys have to block linebackers and defensive ends at full sprint in the running game and still be able to go out and catch a pass and occasionally run the ball themselves. I’ve been told that to get the effect of playing that position, you should run full speed and throw yourself into a garage door at various random angles about sixty times and see how you feel the next morning.

thats the problem. people think its who can swing the *racquet the hardest. its not only about power, its about placement, angles, depth, touch, and placement. and a lot of people say tennis isnt as physically demanding as other sports because the suck to bad to even get a decent point or rally going. trust me, i’ve played 3+ hour matches in 100 degree whether with grueling, long, and exhausting points hitting the ball more than hard enough.

…yeah and i’m gonna say “no” to football being the hardest. it may be painful, but skill wise its way down there.

they should have a reality show with the best players from different sports and see how they do in each other’s sports. that would be interesting. i really cant see a boxer or football player or basketball player playing tennis well at all. but i can definitely see the tennis player being able to box, play basketball, or play football so a somewhat effective degree. tennis just requires more types and degrees of skill.

and yes i may be biased. but i’ve tried almost everysport mentioned in a competitve way, whether it be high school level or actual leagues. i’ve noticed that of all the sports people have the most trouble learning, tennis is #1. i practice tennis much more than any other sport, so of course i’m better at tennis than any other sport. but i have enough experience with other sports to know tennis is the hardest one.

ok i’ve said just about everything i wanted to. i think we all agree we are either biased in our opinion because we play a certain sport or we are just guessing which one seems harder to play. anyway to each his/her own.

…but tennis is still the hardest…

I’d say soccer. I used to play full games, it’s insane running that much.

I don’t see how tennis even compares to sports like boxing or wrestling in terms of difficulty.
