Totally agree, even though I love both schools pretty equally at this point.

Yes I applied SCEA to Yale but it still ticks me off that they think they can do that.

^I agree. Mine is still 650 words though. I didn’t want to compromise on my essay by cutting it down when the length was acceptable for every college except Yale.

Hahaha mine is about 850…

:O

Mine was around 700 to 750. We’re such rebels :D

^ i can not believe you posted that!! Lmao!!!

Oh you know it. :D

^wow. I didn’t even know that existed. Now I have to rush to my counselor.

I have 2 questions about interviews-- (sorry they may be really stupid)…

does each alum interview only student? or could they interview a couple?

thanks!!

Not too sure but most people get interviews after submitting their common app. Some people complete their application in October and still don’t get an interview.

They can interview a bunch of applicants.

^ thanks for replying Gupi! ![]()

oh really? I never knew that. that means they compare their interviewees… :S

Since the interview is required, everyone needs an interview. So the admissions office will contact Harvard alumni who live near you and ask them to interview you. Then the interviewer contacts you to set up an interview.

App sent in, supplement done, recs sent, interview done, SATs sent. Now I just have to wait 4 months!

O.M.G.

I just realized something awful.

On March 31st, 2011, at 5pm, when my admissions decision is emailed, I will be in an airplane. AN AIRPLANE. There’s no wifi on an airplane. There’s no cell reception. There’s no way to contact the outside world, so I’ll have no idea whether I got in or not. Even if I get someone to check for me, they’ll know before I will and they can’t call and tell me until I land.

I think I’m going to have a panic attack on the whole flight to Providence.

The interview is optional.

Interviews are not required for Harvard

Someone check me on this, but I think decisions go out on March 30

[Acceptance Rate Falls to New Low | The Harvard Crimson](http://www.thecrimson.harvard.edu/article/2010/3/31/financial-aid-percent-students/)

“Emailed out today at 5 PM”, date of article is March 31st.

It’s different this year though. All the Ivies send out decisions on the same day, and if you look [at Princeton’s site](http://www.princeton.edu/admission/applyingforadmission/deadlines/) it says they send out decisions on the 30th. It also said March 30 in emails that I got from Upenn and Yale.

And for what it’s worth, decisions actually went out on April 1 for the class of 2014

If an applicant gets contacted for an interview, s/he would be well advised to do the interview. So, it isn’t really correct that the interview is optional; if an interview can not be arranged due to lack of interviewing resources, that’s one thing; it’s quite another for an applicant to refuse an interview request.
