Harvard 2015 Hopefuls

^No, not ‘all’ top schools. That’s just MIT, because they have a quota for internationals. And they state that, they don’t hide it. Harvard does not have quotas and therefore it makes no difference. They’re not lying when they say they have no quota. They’ve even said that all applicants are placed in the same pool and evaluated equally. I doubt they even release statistics specific to internationals like MIT does. Again, MIT does it because they have the quota (their acceptance rates were 3.6% and 10.1%, by the way.)

Is it already time for the <10 post count posters likely letter pandemonium? Happened much later in last year’s admissions cycle.

^Only a couple so far. I’m surprised by how early it’s starting too though

(: I feel so happy for those who got likely letters, but I’m also surprised how early it is. It’s crazy-but awesome. hehe I want to see people’s reactions to getting acceptances

Have most people already been contacted for interviews already?

Was I supposed to have sent in a transcript by now? I thought it would be ok until senior year grades came in.

^I asked my school’s student services dpt. to send in my transcript last week. My school has 2 semesters, so when sem 1 final marks come out, another set of marks will be sent. Then probably mid-semester marks for sem 2, then the absolute FINAL transcript (if I get in…)

Just send marks every time they’re updated.

** good luck! **

^^Yeah I probably should have done that. I’m hoping it’ll be ok if I send it next week though since they notify applicants about missing components anyway. This whole thing is making me nervous. I don’t want to get negative outcomes because I didn’t send in transcripts by the 1st.

^I wouldn’t worry about it since, as you know, they notify students if they’re missing any application materials.

Everyone who applied RD this year feel free to check out my thread on who applied to what at Harvard. Right now, Humanities and Social Sciences are the most popular.

Hahalolk, I haven’t been contacted about an interview yet, but maybe that’s cause I live in Asia. =D

Somehow, likely letters remind me of those golden ticket things in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. OMG i want them both soooo bad.

As the title of another thread has written (it comes from Harvard’s official publication the Harvard Gazzette), this year there have been 35000 applications.

But it also said that the Committee does not start work to consider any applicant until January 25th–so again lost of salt reading about anyone who says that they got admitted already–it would have to happen outside of a Committee approval–not saying it can’t happen but, boy, is that rare–really really rare, save for jocks and internationals. Just saying…

^^ The golden ticket or the likely letter? hehe

I wonder how much time admissions actually spends reading each application. It would be great if Harvard released a behind-the-scenes video showing adcoms debating who to admit for one last spot, but we know that will never happen.

My avg dropped to a 90 from a 95 in gr 11…how screwed am I? =(

and @Fatum
i hope youre not being serious
i dont think that really matters
in the grand scheme of things (notably your application to Harvard) the five percent decrease will play a very minor role

Wow congrats, Dario.

thanks!

good luck with your decisions

dario, if you don’t mind, can you share with us your scores and EC’s in a basic overview. You must be special T_T/

OMG OMG! Dario, congratulations! Why weren’t you on CC before? :)

Wow, acceptance already? Great job. They probably got to your application and made the decision because you submitted it so early.
