Harvard 2020 Waitlist Discussion

@idkschool - 4:30pm.

california, i called back but no one picked up

They will leave a message - that’s what they did for my D.

@slothqueen Did they leave a message?

It seems like everyone who got a call today got it near 5pm EST - is it possible they didn’t finish all their calls before the end of the day and are still calling people tomorrow? Or is that just wishful thinking?

@Smythe who knows, but considering only like 50 people get calls, it is most likely that they finished. However, not everyone accepts their waitlist. Last year, I read that there have been calls as back as late June. I’m not sure if that was a Z-list tho.

Just curious, how common is it for an Asian computer science major (from south) to accept their place at Harvard? I imagine if they are good enough to get into Harvard, they would probably got accepted by MIT and Stanford too.

no message :’(

@slothqueen did your portal update?

@slothqueen are you from bay area? (cuz i’m from bay area and i haven’t heard back anything… im very anxious right now)

oh by the way! that call might be a sign for admission! pre congratulations!!

I guess I can give up hope now.

@Hamotron :((
im dropping my expectations… its harvard anyways

@Wreckdecembersat I know. It’s just hard to give up hope entirely. UMass it is, I guess.

@Hamotron Same! It’s hard to don’t think about it… ahh… The fact that the portal hasn’t changed means that they are probably still going to release more results tomorrow… Good luck!

@Wreckdecembersat Thank you. Best of luck to you as well.

@Hamotron Thank you very much!

@gibby You seem to be very knowledge with great answers. Do you think Harvard would have been able to call/leave messages for all 40 or 50 lucky waitlist candidates today? Just curious as to your opinion. Thanks!

^^ The full Admissions Committee, which is comprised of Admissions Directors and faculty members, totals more than 40 people. I don’t know how many of them are Admissions Officers, but let’s say it’s split 50-50. If 20 Admissions Directors each made 2 or even 3 phone calls today, it’s certainly possible to reach out to 40-50 waitlist candidates. Some waitlist students couldn’t be reached and received a voicemail message, so not much time was involved with some calls. Whether Admissions got through the entire first round today or not, I have no idea.

I’m from LA area/really hoping i am admitted but no expectations for now (don’t want to be extra disappointed)

no portal update :\

@slothqueen :frowning:
Keep us updated. Good luck!
